At Demascaré, sustainability is more than a choice – it's an ongoing commitment.
We are building a future where fashion is as responsible as it is beautiful.

A panoramic view from a mountain top, showcasing rolling hills enveloped by a sea of thig fluffy clouds. The sky is bright blue with the sun having just risen. The landscape is lush with greenery, reflecting the beauty of nature and Demascaré's commitment to preserving it.
A model elegantly poses as she looks to the side gazing into the distance. Her auburn hair is tied back, and she wears a unique mask made from small round green leaves. She is wearing a frothy lavender organza gown that is draped diagonally across her body, while her right hand gently caresses her cheek.

Made-to-order

Every creation begins by hand – sketching, draping, and patternmaking – ensuring longevity in mind, emphasizing quality over mass production.

Local Production & Ethical Practices

All of our garments are crafted locally within downtown Toronto, significantly reducing our carbon footprint while supporting the community.

We take pride in working with skilled local artisans, particularly women, who are paid a fair, living wage in ethical working conditions. Their expertise ensures that every piece is made to last, embracing the true essence of slow fashion.

It is paired with a long dramatically draped metallic teal skirt and a silver handbag. Responsible Sourcing

We prioritize deadstock fabrics—materials left unused, out of season, or discontinued—rescued from landfills and given new life. Some synthetic fibers can take up to 200 years to decompose, further strengthening our resolve to make a difference.

When deadstock is not available, we opt for natural fibers such as silk, linen, and wool, with synthetic new fabrics being our last resort. As we grow, we aim to source the actual deadstock we need from organizations that align with our values.

Fabric Repurposing

We embrace creativity by upcycling vintage and deadstock fabrics, including heritage sarees, into unique, one-of-a-kind designs.

It gives us great joy to work with local companies that share our passion for sustainability. In fact, we partnered with one such company to create their official jackets, made from 90% of their own deadstock fabric.

Zero-Waste Commitment

Our made-to-order model is designed to minimize waste, with offcuts and muslin scraps further shredded and repurposed into filling for punching bags and gym equipment used in community centers and professional training facilities.

Even our paper waste is recycled creatively and efficiently, continuously striving for a zero-waste business.

Sustainable Packaging

Currently, most of our orders are custom-made and picked up in person. As we expand, we are actively exploring eco-friendly packaging solutions that eliminate plastic and prioritize biodegradable materials.

End-of-Life Solutions

We are also developing end-of-life initiatives, including repair and repurposing services, to extend the lifespan of our garments. For a small brand, balancing sustainability with financial viability remains a challenge, however, we are committed to evolving our practices over time to create a truly circular fashion model.

Supporting Demascaré means investing in more than just clothing.

It means championing ethical craftsmanship, reducing waste, and uplifting a community of artisans and makers who take pride in what they do.
