DESIGNER

Bangalore-born Shaun Mascarenhas, designer and founder of Demascare, brings a wealth of skill and experience to his line of mesmerizing women’s/gender-neutral demi-couture.

His BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design plus Fashion Merchandising degree from FIT NY give Shaun the strong foundation and combination of knowledge and expertise. Boosted with stints at J. Mendel, Oscar de la Renta, and Romona Keveza, he honed his craft, giving him the confidence to produce his unquestionably glamorous, stunningly draped, and impeccably curated couture creations.

LOOK #1 Top: Multiple layers of pleated paper ruffles sewn onto a black knit bolero. Adorned with industrial metal gold fringe statement necklace. Bottom: Pleated paper ruffles sewn in sinuous patterns to accentuate curves on the body. Sewn onto a pair of repurposed black denim jeans.
LOOK #2 Jacket: Sculpted jacket made of pleated paper to mimic architectural silhouette. Dress: Repurposed slip dress with the addition of voluminous vertical bands of pleated paper that ripple with every movement.
LOOK #3 Upcycled red poly crepe halter dress. Altered from short A-line to form fitting silhouette, with addition of draped bubble hem made with pleated paper.
LOOK #4 Asymmetric ruffled collar, floor-length pleated paper cape with extra volume for drama. Crinoline base sewn to t-shirt to provide structure for outer shell.
LOOK #5 Upcycled ballet bodysuit draped in gold jacquard dégradé , with a three tier asymmetric sculpted paper drape enveloping the waist.
LOOK #6 Top: Open front knit bolero repurposed to become a low V-neck cardigan. Skirt: Upcycled blouse altered to become a base for a buoyant skirt made of multiple layers of floating pleated paper panels.
LOOK #7 Repurposed t-shirt dress completely altered to become long sleeve figure-hugging mermaid evening gown. Base accented with multiple layers of hand draped pleated paper panels.
LOOK #8 Two blouses upcycled to form the upper bodice of gown. Skirt base made from repurposed crinoline shells. Pleated paper panels sewn on top of base to achieve dramatic bell-shaped silhouette.
LOOK #9 Fine silk jacquard sari repurposed to become sensual high-slit evening gown. Draped over a fitted nude underlining, gown has dramatic one shoulder train that floats with every movement.
LOOK #10 FINALE Vintage silver embroidered sequin dress upcycled into a shrug, styled with a black corset and silver jewelry. Dramatic billowing paper cape consists of multiple pleated paper panels.
